Mary E. Sharp Photo

Mary E. Sharp is a partner who practices in the areas of automobile liability, premises liability, products liability, general tort liability, construction litigation and insurance disputes.

Ms. Sharp received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from North Carolina State University and her Juris Doctor from the Wake Forest University School of Law. While at Wake Forest, Ms. Sharp served as an Executive Board Member of the Moot Court Board and as Vice-President of the Student Trial Bar. She was a member of the Justice Joseph Branch American Inn of Court. Except for a short period of employment in Raleigh, North Carolina, she has practiced with Mr. Griffith and Ms. Sadler since graduating from law school. Ms. Sharp has also taught introductory law and ethics and legal research and writing classes to paralegals in training at the Technical College of the Lowcountry in Beaufort, and currently serves as a Municipal Court Judge for the City of Beaufort. She has tried numerous cases to verdict in both the state and federal courts. She is licensed to practice in North Carolina and South Carolina.

Ms. Sharp is a member of numerous bar associations and professional organizations. She served on the Board of South Carolina Women Lawyers Association from 1997 to 2005, and in 2003, served as President. She is currently a Vice-President of the National Conference of Women's Bar Associations, and is a Liaison to the ABA's Commission on Women in the Profession. She is a South Carolina Liaison to the ABA Section of Litigation Woman Advocate Committee. She is active in the South Carolina Bar Association, and currently serves in its House of Delegates. She served from 2001 to 2005 on its Judicial Qualifications Committee. From 2001-2002, she served as CLE Committee Chair for the Young Lawyers Division of the South Carolina Bar Association, and from 2002-2003, as Coordinator for Community Law Week. She is also active with the Beaufort County Bar Association, and from 2000-2003, served as Secretary of its Young Lawyers Association. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys' Association and the Defense Research Institute.

Ms. Sharp is active in her community, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of The Surgery Center of Beaufort, and Broad River Healthcare and as a member of the Beaufort Memorial Hospital Institutional Review Board. She served as President of the Board of the Friends of Caroline Hospice, from 2004-2007, and on the Board of the Child Abuse Prevention Association from 1995-2001.
